What is Workplace Health & how can it benefit your organisation?

Did you know that on average, most people in full time employment spend about a third of their work day at the workplace.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) states that some of the main reasons given for sickness absence (in terms of the percentage of its occurrence) in 2018 were:

Being overweight is also linked to having a higher risk of developing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, some cancers and back pain.

Health Talks & Workshops

We offer a comprehensive range of health talks and workshops on key lifestyle health topics and issues such as: 

Weight management – How weight can affect your health, how to lose weight, what are the best types of exercises for weight loss.

Healthy eating and nutrition – What is a healthy diet, nutrition and weight loss, portion sizes, fat, protein & carbohydrates.

Physical activity & exercise – Are physical activity & exercise the same thing, is cardio or weight training better, how exercise can affect your health and how to exercise effectively

All of our presentations last for about an hour and are designed to raise awareness and understanding of the core knowledge of the topics covered.

Lifestyle Health Checks

Themed around a persons lifestyle, our non-invasive lifestyle health checks include key tests to help an individual look at their current lifestyle, health and fitness status. Things we look at and discuss include an individual’s:

–  Height and weight
–  Body mass index and waist circumference
–  Blood pressure and resting heart rate
–  Lifestyle factors that may affect health (such as smoking, hydration status, physical activity levels and alcohol consumption)

The checks take about 15 minutes, and can highlight areas where individual’s may make lifestyle changes to improve their health.

Men’s 12 Week Workplace Weight Management & Fitness Programme

Designed to help men become healthier, lose weight, get fitter, look and feel better and to maintain a healthy body weight.  

This programme gives men the camaraderie, support, tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about lifestyle choices that can affect their health.  Each session incorporates the following components within it:

  • Support around helping men to change and make long term positive lifestyle changes.
  • An exercise class designed to improve health related fitness components such as muscular strength & endurance, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility.
  • An information learning session on relevant health topics such as how to lose weight, alcohol, nutrition, smoking, stress, healthy eating, physical activity and how to exercise effectively.
Workplace based exercise & physical health programme

 

Typically lasting between 30 – 45 minutes, our workplace exercise programmes are aimed at providing a safe exercise environment for individuals to undertake activities to improve components of their health related fitness.

This includes having better muscular strength and muscular endurance, increased cardiovascular fitness, improved flexibility, and a better body composition ratio. 

Workplace exercise sessions also give added benefits such as improving mood, boosting energy, reducing stress and demonstrates a concern for employee’s well-being.
